How Video to Audio Extraction Works Client-Side
This tool decodes the embedded audio track directly from video files without transmitting any video data over the network:
1. In-Browser Web Audio Decoding
Using the W3C Web Audio API (AudioContext.decodeAudioData), your browser reads the video container, separates the AAC, Opus, or MP3 audio streams, and decodes them into raw uncompressed multi-channel audio buffers in your device's memory.
2. Lossless 16-Bit PCM WAV Export
The audio buffer is encoded on-the-fly into standard WAV (Waveform Audio File Format) using 16-bit signed integer pulse-code modulation (PCM). WAV is supported natively across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and every digital audio workstation (DAW) including Audacity, Premiere Pro, and Ableton.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I extract audio from iPhone MOV videos?
Yes. QuickTime .mov and .mp4 recordings created on iPhones or Android devices are decoded directly by the browser.
Is there any file size limit?
Because processing runs locally on your machine, there are no artificial server upload caps. You can convert large multi-gigabyte video files as long as your browser tab has sufficient RAM.
